Bye Bye Dubai

My blog has not been updated in a long time. It's pretty much dead. Sort of like how I feel some days.

In July it will be exactly 4 years since I graduated from University and came back to Dubai. I have exhaustively analysed my time here. Evaluated all my options . Hell I have even tried mediating on it to see what my 'inner spirit' might be telling me. Unfortunately, they all seem to lead to one conclusion.

I must leave!

I have made up my mind. Dubai might feel like home. I might want it to be my home. But the city doesn't want me. The country doesn't care about people like me.

I need to move to a place where I have rights. Where I can secure my future. Where I can settle down and start a family.

Bye bye Dubai. I hate to admit but I have given up on you. Sad thing is you never gave a damn about me. It took me this long to realize it.

:( I hear / feel for you LE. Do what you must for a brighter and stable future. We live only once. I know how hard this decision will be. Prayers and thoughts with you.

Excuse me if I seem a bit off when it comes to this, but I'm assuming you are a citizen of some country no? So how is it you need to go and LOOK for this place that you have rights when you infact already do?

Very confusing.

Thanks for the empathic words.

Its even harder to explain. Read the 'About Me' section on the main page of my blog. I got even less rights in the country of my origins

I was in Dubai for a total of 19 years - the last 16 from 94-2010. I repatriated last October. So far not a day has gone by that I'm not immensely pleased with the change. While there are many expats who can flourish in Dubai, I was not one of them. I am grateful to the small school community in which I raised my family but felt it was more 'in spite of' than 'because of'. The charm that was Dubai is long gone. You can still feel it in some of the more rural areas and Oman, but it wasn't enough to keep me around. I hope you find joy in your life. We all require it.

The millions of people want home in Dubai but couldn't get it because property prices are too high in Dubai. Rent an apartment is an easy way to live happy in Dubai.

Don't say bye-bye to Dubai. I am involved in import export business and travel Dubai time to time. As per my experience it is the only place that provides you different experience on every visit. I would like to share something with business that start using Dubai B2B and Business Directory such as Alibaba.com. Not heard about it? check Alibaba Wiki. It is a great tool for you to plan your business trip in more better format.
